Ingredients

  • 1 pound jumbo (16 to 20 count) shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cayenne Powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup Frank's RedHot® Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups panko bread crumb
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut
  • Canola oil, for frying
  • Frank's RedHot® Sweet 'N Sour Dip'n Sauce

directions

  1. PLACE shrimp in large bowl. Drizzle with oil, and sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne, tossing to season evenly. Set aside. Place flour in medium bowl. Mix eggs and Frank's RedHot® Original Sauce in separate medium bowl. Finally, mix panko and shredded coconut in a third bowl or shallow dish.
  2. WORKING in batches, coat seasoned shrimp in flour, then dip in egg mixture. Transfer to coconut-panko mixture, pressing to adhere. Dip again in egg mixture and then back into panko mixture, pressing again to adhere.
  3. PLACE coated shrimp in single layer on foil-lined baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer about 30 to 45 minutes or until firm. (Shrimp can be frozen overnight, if desired.)
  4. WHEN ready to cook the shrimp, heat about 2 inches of oil in large deep saucepan or cast-iron skillet on medium heat until temperature reaches about 350°F and 365°F (do not fill more than 2/3 of the way with oil). Working in batches, carefully place shrimp in hot oil. Cook until golden brown and crispy. Remove shrimp using slotted spoon and transfer to paper towel-lined plates or wire rack to drain.
  5. SERVE hot with Frank's RedHot® Sweet & Sour Dip'n Sauce.

    Test Kitchen Tips:
    • Try making these in your air fryer! Preheat air fryer on 400°F for 3 minutes. Spray basket with no stick cooking spray and place shrimp in basket in single layer, leaving enough room for air to circulate. Spray shrimp lightly with cooking spray. Air Fry 10 to 12 minutes, until crispy and cooked through.
    • To prepare in the oven, arrange shrimp in single layer on foil-lined baking pan sprayed with no stick cooking spray. Spray shrimp lightly with cooking spray and bake in preheated 400°F oven for 10 to 12 minutes until crispy and cooked through.
